Katsuhiko Matsubara

Presentation

Katsuhiko Matsubara was born in 1986 in Tokyo, Japan.
Inspired by nature, primitive appearances, mythology, anthropology and morphology, Matsubara seeks to create artistic, fictional ecosystems in his paintings, in which a multitude of formal and interpretative possibilities coexist.
Lives and works in Berlin. 2021 he graduated BFA in painting in the class of Anselm Reyle at HFBK Hamburg. In 2019 he participated in the international studio program of Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin with the Grant of Yoshino Gypsum Art Foundation. In 2021 he was nominated for the prize of the Rainer Wild Art Foundation.
